We are fortunate to have many active Irish community groups across New Zealand.
Our community in Aotearoa NZ has long cherished its connections with Ireland, as exemplified by the extraordinary work to keep Irish music, dance, literature, genealogy, business and sporting connections between our island nations. Generations of New Zealanders of Irish heritage and Irish immigrants have contributed to this effort, and today we are fortunate to have active Irish groups right across the North and South Islands, from Auckland right down to Invercargill. So whatever your interest or passion, reach out to your local Irish group, you can be assured of the warmest of welcomes - browse the various social media accounts and websites below.
"Spending a week here meeting with so many ‘Friends of Ireland’ has made me appreciate just how fortunate we are to have a thriving community here. New Zealand is home any and every kind of Irish community group – from the GAA to Irish Mammies – with involvement by people from all across the island of Ireland, as well as lots of Kiwis of Irish heritage and other Friends of Ireland. This inclusivity is a feature of Aotearoa New Zealand and it is also what makes our community so special"
