About The Project

Kia ora a chairde,

Is fearr an tsláinte ná na táinte.
Health is better than wealth.

He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata

What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.

These two reasons are exactly why we have initiated this project.
The ‘Friends of Ireland Wellbeing Service’ is a community resource that has been developed as a partnership between the Embassy of Ireland in New Zealand and a number of Irish organisations and key stakeholders in the community. What this service looks like has informed by you, the Friends of Ireland.  You can view  a high-level structure to capture the essence of the work, which you can see on this page.

The aim of the service is to support, in a tangible way, the vulnerable and newly vulnerable of the community through a

range of channels, providing an ‘Irish voice’ for Irish citizens in New Zealand who are dealing with wellbeing issues as a result of COVID-19.

We have heard from as many people in the community as possible about what positively influences wellbeing, as well as the challenges at this time, so that we can build on what's working to address what's not.  It is as important that we hear from those who are thriving as it is that we hear from those who need support.  Sharing stories and experiences across the community will lift everyone.
